Carl Johnson Nfl Officiating Assignments

TMZ Sports reports that NFL line judge and former vice president of officiating, Carl Johnson, is under investigation for alleged domestic violence in his home state of Louisiana.

Johnson denies the accusations and has not been charged.

The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office is conducting the investigation into an alleged assault of his live-in girlfriend in December 2016.

Johnson joined the NFL as a line judge in 2001. He became vice president of officiating in 2010, replacing Mike Pereira. Johnson returned to the field for the 2013 season as a full-time official when Dean Blandino succeeded Johnson. He since returned to a part-time position, and was not one of the full-time officials announced last month.

On the field, Johnson has had a successful career, including calling Super Bowl XLII.

NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said, “The matter is under review of the league’s personal conduct policy.” This policy applies equally to players, coaches, officials, and team and league employees. We have contacted the officials union for comment, and, in deference to officiating department rules, we have not contacted Johnson.

Johnson is scheduled to officiate this week’s Dolphins-Jets game on Terry McAulay’s crew.

Football Zebras has confirmed the officiating crews for the Divisional Playoffs. Officials are listed with their uniform number, years of NFL experience (including this season), the crew each official worked with in the regular season (by the referee’s name), college, and outside occupation.

All times are Eastern.

Three alternates are assigned to each game: generally, one is designated for the offensive backfield (a referee or umpire), one is on the line of scrimmage (down judge or line judge), and one is a deep position (side judge, field judge, or back judge). When alternates are listed, their position during the regular season is also given. The prior playoff experience that is listed for the crew chief includes his service as an NFL official, including as referee and any other crew position (excluding alternate assignments).

Also of note, the eventual Super Bowl officials are working this weekend’s games, but not all are from the same crew.
